What causes rain? Clouds are made of water droplets. Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall to Earth as rain.

The low light conditions associated with rainy weather can lead to a spike in melatonin, making you feel drowsy. Yet another reason for feeling tired or “down” in rainy weather is the effect of barometric pressure.

Rain symbols signified renewal, fertility and change. Rain and raindrops were used as symbols to represent plentiful crops. The meaning of the rain clouds was a magical symbol to promote good prospects in the future.
Rain produces a sound akin to white noise. The brain gets a tonic signal from white noise that decreases this need for sensory input, thus calming us down.
